Description:

Vetiveria zizanioides is the botanical name of khus (vettiver) that belongs to the Poaceae family. Khus is a perennial bunchgrass that grows up to 1.5 meters tall with long, thin, and stiff leaves. Khus plant is grown in the hilly regions of Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh.

Khus plant is highly medicinal and has a good aroma. Khus is helpful in the preparation of perfumes, ointments, bath soaps, cooling purposes, flavoring sharbat, making mats, hand fans, etc.
